Fighting the good fight

I attended my first tea party meeting yesterday, It was a wonderful experience.  I have known patriotism in my life but not from this perspective.  I've always seen myself as a soldier, and I never held "civilians" up to the same standards of loyalty toward my country that I held myself.  I was wrong.

What I saw at that meeting were men and women, from different communities, social backgrounds, race, and age all committed to one simple idea, That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness

These people were upbeat and positive, not what I had originally expected. They were well organized and goal oriented, with a clear message that was not muddled with generalizations.  I was also fascinated by their knowledge of government policy and laws.  If every citizen held this same commitment, our government would not hold the power it wields today.

After speaking with the men and women after the meeting, I discovered that they had the same love, the same dedication to freedom and liberty that I believed was reserved only for the select few.  It filled me with pride and deepened my resolve to continue along the path that I have set for myself.
