Ouch, my head!!!

I woke up this morning and was struck by a moment of clarity, an epiphany if you will.  I have been asking myself for months how a country that has a clear conservative majority keeps returning to a liberal majority over and over again.

It’s really quite simple, good moral people become tired of the fight.  They just can’t stand up to the months of anger and turmoil that the progressives seem to thrive on.  Most conservative are just plain old good hearted, hard working people that want nothing more than for everything to run smooth so the can provide a decent living for their families and live their life.  Progressives on the other hand, thrive on turmoil.  They can only maintain power through confrontation, deceit, and corruption.

Another difference between your garden variety conservative and the progressive is problem solving.  Conservatives tend to handle problems with military style efficiency.  They identify the problem, develop several courses of action to solve the problem, make a decision based on common sense and experience on which course of action best solves the problem, and then execute the plan.  Once the problem is solved, they move on to the next obstacle.

The progressive identifies the problem, and then identifies several other conjunctive problems which are neither aligned with nor systemic to the original problem.  Discuss the problem with a team to pseudo-experts that share the same political view and develop a system to measure the progress of the discussion.  Formulate a plan of action that will please the largest number of people (with no consideration as to whether it actually solves the problem or not), then form additional plans to present to the other groups that may oppose the original plan.  These plans will then be sent to a separate panel who will scrutinize the plan to ensure that no one group can be adverse to the course of action and to spin the details of the plan in such an ambiguous and complex manner as to be able to give several explanations of the plan to different groups in the hope that each will carry away a different meaning.  Once the plan of action is definitive and clear as mud it is carried out immediately after the next available election cycle and all production delays are blamed on the opposing party.  The plan is then halted mid way and sent back to the organizational panel who discuss, poll, hem and haw and decide that the plan was unworkable from the outset.  The process it the scrapped and the process starts all over again.

September 11th, how quickly we forget

September 11, 2001, the day the nation woke up and realized that we were not invulnerable any longer.

This day changed America; the terrorist attacks on this day started a chain of events that continue to shape our outlook on life and will affect the lives of our children.  But has our resolve changed over these last nine years, have Americans forgotten so quickly that the price of freedom can be measured in the deaths that occurred on that day?

Now, less than ten years later, we have a new administration in this country, the President that was applauded for his level headedness and leadership on 9/11 is ridiculed by our current President.  Mr. Bush is blamed for starting the war in Iraq without cause and just this week NBC news correspondent Richard Engle said that Saddam Hussein was becoming more moderate prior to his removal from power. How quickly we forget…..

During a press conference on September 10th, President Obama called the Quran a book of sacred texts and basically condemned what the president referred to as a “stunt” by Reverend Terry Jones who is threatening to burn a Quran on September 11th.  Reverend Jones has stated that the burning will be in protest of the proposed Mosque near the site of the 9/11 attacks in New York.  This is a very interesting statement from a President that cancelled the national day of prayer at the White House citing that he wanted to observe the separation of Church and State.  The burning of a Quran seems less offensive to me that the burning of our national flag, yet I have never seen the President condemn that action.  The president also stated that the burning of the Quran may put our soldiers overseas in danger.  How could they possibly be in more danger than they now face daily by any Muslim extremist?

President Obama went on to say that he would not interfere or condemn the building of the Mosque in New York near ground zero because it is the right of every person to have freedom of religion.  The fact is that the site, in the very least, shows a lack of sensitivity toward the victims of 9/11, and at the most is a symbol of victory over America by the Muslim world.  By allowing the creation of this mosque, our government has shown a weakness that can only be interpreted by our enemies as a sign that they have won a great victory.  They are learning that they can use our own laws against us and we will allow it to happen.  Just look at the President of Mexico, just a few short weeks ago he condemned Arizona for trying to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the state and not only did the Obama administration fail to condemn his statements, the State Department reported Arizona to the United Nations for human rights violations.

In addition, the Imam of the proposed Mosque, Feisal Rauf has said that if the mosque was not allowed to be built, Muslims world wide would consider it an act of war.  He also stated that America was an accessory to the 9/11 attacks.  He advocates Sharia law, and believes that Muslims should be allowed to set up their own system of laws within the United States. This is the same man that the Obama administration recently hired to represent the United States on a good will mission to several Muslim countries.

Today is September 11th, I would ask everyone to remember where you were when you heard about the attacks in New York and Washington DC.  Remember, the rage and pain you felt at the moment you realized that our country had been attacked by thugs, and reflect on how your life has changed since that moment.  Do not become complacent; do not let the actions of those brave individuals on Flight 93 who stopped the probable destruction of our nations capitol building be forgotten.  Pray for the families of the heroes of 9/11, the police, firefighters and other emergency workers who lost their lives on that day.  Remind your friends and families that freedom is a daily struggle and liberty is to be cherished above all but God himself.  I leave you with this thought.

The greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing the world that he doesn’t exist……………

The Los Angeles Police shooting, here we go again

Once again there is trouble in Los Angeles in the wake of a legitimate police shooting.

On September 5th, a Guatemalan immigrant named Manuel Jamines, was shot and killed after he lunged at Officer Frank Hernandez with a knife.  Jamines was intoxicated at the time and had reportedly already threatened several other people with the weapon.  Witnesses confirmed that Officer Hernandez ordered Jamines several times in English and Spanish to drop the weapon before Jamines raised the knife and lunged toward Officer Hernandez.

So the question remains, why are there protests going on over the Officers actions? I can tell you from personal experience that if a subject is within fifteen feet of you; you have approximately a half a second to react to a threat.  Additionally, if a person is wielding a knife or any other object that can be considered a deadly weapon any reasonable person should meet that threat with an equivalent amount of force.  I for one agree with the officer and would never bring a knife to a gunfight.

Honestly the implementation of less than lethal equipment has been a double edged sword for law enforcement across the country.  Everyone wants to arm chair quarterback every decision made by an officer after a deadly force incident now.  The problem is that they have hours upon hours to analyze the decision the officer had to make in an instant.

You add to this, the anti-police sentiment of so many of the minorities in this country and the “I’ll protest anything” motto of the liberal idiots and what you get is the current situation, social lunacy.

No amount of law enforcement can solve a problem that goes back to the family

Personal Freedom

I wonder sometimes where our country will be in fifty years.  Earlier, one of the news networks reported on a man that had been arrested for discharging a firearm in the city and causing “risk of death”.  Now that seems like a valid reason to arrest someone doesn't it?  Of course it does, we can't have people just randomly shooting in town, it's dangerous.  However, there was a little more to the story.

The man, Mr. George Greir, was preparing to leave his home with his cousin when he was confronted by several Hispanic gang members (MS 13) in the driveway of his home.  Mr. Greir stated that he returned to into his house and called police; meanwhile fifteen to twenty other gang members had walked onto his property and surrounded his cousin.  Mr. Greir stated that he retrieved a rifle from inside his residence and fired four shots into the ground in front of his house in order to scare away the gang members.  Mr. Greir said that the gang members fled the area before the police arrived.
Now here’s the kicker, when the police arrived, Mr. Greir was arrested for firing a weapon.
YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!

I am an American citizen; I have a right to defend myself, my family, and my property.  I should not have to wait until someone is using force against me before I defend myself.  Once again, I propose that common sense should dictate the actions of jurisprudence in our country.  My father taught me as a child that once you realize that physical violence is immanent, make sure to get in the first blow.  History teaches that he who strikes first strikes best, and the first punch normally decides the fight.  Now, this is common sense, country thinking mind you, and most liberals will never understand the concept.

Several years ago, while working as a neighborhood police officer in my city, I was called to assist a city inspector at a residence where the home owner had become irate.  When I arrived I found the inspector hiding behind his vehicle and an elderly man sitting on the front porch with a shotgun leaned on the wall beside him.  The old man welcomed me up onto the porch but refused to allow the inspector to come onto his property.  The old man explained to me that the inspector had come to his house and told him that he was being fined because his grass was too high.

I looked at the grass, and it was almost knee high.  However, the yard and house were otherwise clean and neat.  There was no trash, no weeds or anything that would give one the impression that the property was not being looked after.  The old man explained that his lawnmower was broken and had been in the repair shop for two weeks.  The man said as soon as his lawnmower was repaired, he would mow the grass, but he would not accept a ticket.  The old man stated that the inspector threatened him and said that in addition to the ticket, if his grass wasn't mowed by the end of the day, the city would mow the grass and he would be billed for it.  The old man told the inspector that this was his property; he had lived in that house for fifty years and did not need anyone mowing his grass for him.  He told the inspector that the city had better not come onto his property and that he would shoot anyone who stepped foot on it.  He then retrieved a shotgun from inside his house to prove that he would defend his property.

Now that sounds extreme doesn't it, here's the problem;  I don't think it is.  I actually see the old man's point.  He has lived in that neighborhood for fifty years and watched it deteriorate.  You could stand on the sidewalk in front of his house and see half a dozen homes where there was no grass in the yard at all, just dirt and trash.  The house across the street had an old car up on blocks and the house hadn't been painted in years. The old man is forced to deal with gang members, drug dealers, thieves, and vagrants already, now the city government is giving him grief.   Why did the inspector bother this old man and not concentrate on some of the other houses?  Probably because he decided it would be easier to write a ticket to an old man who was less likely to challenge him than some of the other residents in the area.  That inspector was wrong.

I felt for that old man, I even offered to come over that afternoon and mow his grass for him on my own time.  He thanked me and refused the offer saying that he would handle his own chores.  You see even at his age, he was to prideful to allow someone else to do something he was able to do himself.  I told the city inspector that the man wasn't a threat, and that if he would have listened to the old man instead of threatening him, the entire incident could have been avoided.  The inspector left in a huff, without citing the man.  The old man thanked me and told me that he was sorry for taking up a policeman's time for such a small thing.

This is an example of the personal freedoms we, as Americans, are giving away.  I am the one in control of what happens on my property, it belongs to me not the government.  If I want to lie naked in my yard eating Cheetos and drinking buttermilk it is no ones business but mine.  The government is slowly crawling into our lives more and more every day.  President Obama and his progressive cronies have already made the decision to spend trillions of your tax dollars.  They have put our family’s future at risk with their health care program and are chopping away daily at our individual rights.

I leave you with this quote from Benjamin Franklin:

He who would sacrifice liberty for security deserves neither.
